Oysters

THE MALDON ROCK OYSTERS.

At the Oyster Society we source our oysters locally from England. Our Maldon oysters are renowned worldwide for their exceptional taste and unique qualities. These oysters are farmed in the estuary of the River Blackwater, located in the town of Maldon in Essex, England.

The Maldon oyster farming process is carefully managed to ensure optimal growth and flavor. The oysters are grown in bags attached to steel racks, which are submerged in the estuary at high tide and exposed at low tide. The estuary provides the ideal conditions for oyster growth, as it is rich in nutrients and plankton.a

Maldon oysters are characterized by their meaty texture and salty-sweet taste, which is attributed to the briny water in which they are grown. The oysters are typically harvested when they reach three years of age.

One of the key qualities of Maldon oysters is their freshness. They are harvested daily, and their shells are scrubbed clean to remove any dirt or debris.

In addition to their delicious flavor, Maldon oysters are also highly nutritious. They are rich in zinc, iron, and other minerals, as well as high-quality protein.

Overall, Maldon oysters are a true culinary treasure, prized for their exceptional taste, quality, and nutritional value.
